Youth

Catalyst Youth

At Catalyst we believe junior and senior high youth matter to God! We also believe they have the capacity for a vibrant relationship with God and rich relationships with others—not only with friends, but also with kids and adults of all ages.   We encourage teens to actively participate and serve throughout our Sunday morning experience—including helping with worship leadership, greeting, set-up and take-down, hospitality, and visual and audio ministries—and service in the community through our Love Alexandria initiatives.  We also offer special Catalyst Youth events for our own teens and their friends throughout the year.  This summer we are offering the following options:

Senior High Fuel  meets every Wednesday evening from 6:30-8:45 p.m. at the home of Rick, Linda & Caleb Petty (3730 Iona Way, Alexandria). High schoolers! – engage with God, friends and others, and ignite a passion for God’s mission in this world. Our theme this fall is “Be the Body.” Light supper, great fun, probing Bible discussions. Invite your friends, and come join the fun!

Middle School Rock Solid (grades 7-8).
Wednesdays, 6:30-8 p.m. at the home of Lee, Robyn & Nathan Wray (611 8th Ave E., Alexandria). Catalyst’s Rock Solid is a two-year journey for all 7th & 8th graders interested in learning more about God and how to develop a “rock solid” faith for everyday living. We get kids using their Bibles to learn what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. And we explore foundational questions from the Old and New Testaments, such as “What does the Bible have to say about God? About Jesus? Sin? The Holy Spirit? And what about the church?” We want youth to move beyond knowing about Jesus Christ to actually knowing and following him. We offer solid mentoring with experienced teachers who love God. Parents partner with their student in encouraging regular Bible reading, journaling, and discussion of Sunday morning messages.

Youth Ministry Partnerships

We encourage our students to take advantage of a rich array of opportunities to grow in Christ through various ministries in the Greater Alexandria Area and West Central Minnesota.

  • Lake Beauty Bible Camp. At Catalyst, we are part-owners with other Covenant churches of an amazing 600-acre Bible camp east of Long Prairie, with high-quality staff and year-round programs for kids, teens and adults.  Highlights include summer junior high, super-high and senior high camps, winter junior/super high retreat, fall senior high retreat, and student leadership camps.  For more information contact the Catalyst office or Lake Beauty at www.lbbc.com.
  • Youth for Christ. Our partnership with Youth for Christ in Alexandria includes a Thursday evening Junior High Bible study, fun events, and The Landing, a Celebrate Recovery program for teens struggling with various addictions/dependencies and hurtful family issues which will begin Winter 2011.
  • Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Our partnership with FCA means our students can participate in grade-level huddles at Discovery Middle School and Jefferson High School, monthly events for junior and senior high, and summer FCA leadership camps.
  • Alexandria-Area church-based Student Ministries. Our students are welcome at a variety of events and ministries at area churches.  Contact the Catalyst office at catalyst@catalystcov.org for more information.
